DYSA President Barry Smith presented to Rebecca Mais the Chevy Soccer Parent of the year for the state of Delaware. Rebecca will be included in the National Parent of the year contest with an opportunity to win a "Chevy Car".
Rebecca and her husband, Richard have two sons, Brandt, 15 and Peter, 10. Both boys play on our competitive teams.
Rebecca drives her son to and from practice while also providing transportation to other team members from the lower part of the state. She is always willing to "go the extra mile". She has acted as "team mom" and "administrative coordinator" for the Marlins for the past several years.
Rebecca has been a part of the River Soccer Club organization for the past 5+ years. She has been an advocate of our proposal to build our own soccer complex. Rebecca and her family have leased a parcel of their farm property to our club, which has enabled us to move forward with our construction plans. Along with her many other duties, Rebecca has spent several hours meeting with organizations presenting our Club's mission and requesting funds. Thanks in part to her involvement, we have realized a cash, or in kind service donation of $500,000.00 plus to date.
